As part of ESRs development of Australia’s largest rooftop solar installation at Moorebank Intermodal Precinct, they require a precinct wide microgrid, which will operate at a combination of 11kV and 33kV to provide the required electrical capacity to park tenants. Vaughan Infrastructure is currently delivering the Design & Construction of a substation consisting of two 33kV switchrooms, one 11kV switchroom and two 30 MVA power transformers. 


Scope of works Portion 1 – D&C of Power Switching Yard 

  • Design and Construct 33/11kv 30MVA transformers, switch rooms, switching stations and associated building works. 

  • Development of a transformer design to an impedance that will comply with the preferred method to reduce the Single Line to Ground Fault level. 

  • Design and procure auxiliary transformers, neutral earth reactors (NERs), earthing and lighting protection systems and the like. 

  • FRP of structural footings. 

  • Potholing to verify design. 

  • Supply and install of transformer bund/fire/noise walls including louvred walls, oil-water separators, and free issued switchgears. 

  • Jointing of cable to new and existing. 

  • Transformer SCADA. 

  • Testing and commissioning works. 


Portion 2 - 33kV Transmission Works 

  • To provide new authority (Endeavor energy) transmission power into the Precinct. 

  • Alterations to Endeavour Energy power network within Liverpool as to take loading off the ANZAC Zone which will [provide future provisions to Moorebank Intermodal Precinct. Combination of overhead and underground 33kv Transmission works 

  • New feeder provisions to provide power to the Endeavour Energy 33kv switchroom that forms part of the Portion 1 D&C scope. 

  • 14.5km of 1200SQ cable procured from Cable partner Taihan. 

  • 2,400m of trenching and laying of underground cabling and conduits. 

  • Install and upgrade of 33kV Poles for 400m of new 33kV overhead conductors including 2 highly complexed ‘pluck and plant’ pole replacements.
