Ausgrid’s CONSAC Replacement Project has set out to progressively replace the existing underground low voltage electricity cables in the Sydney area. These cables are reaching the end of their serviceable life and are being replaced to allow Ausgrid to maintain a safe and reliable electricity network.
Vaughan Infrastructure were awarded the Design and Construct contract for the Illawong & Menia replacement phase where the scope of works included:
Collaborating closely with Ausgrid, local residents and other key stakeholders to develop the designs from concept stage right through to issued for construction (IFC) stage. The alignment consisted of over 20km conduit and cable systems.
In the detailed design and modelling phase, we used advanced tools such as BIM and 12D modelling to develop detailed design elements, integrating various components of the structural, electrical, and civil requirement from the survey data and project specifications. We conducted ‘Safety in Design’ workshops, embedding safety considerations from the outset.
The construction phase involved excavation, horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and the installation of both underground and above ground conduits and cables.
Throughout the project, we worked closely with Ausgrid and upheld strict compliance with electrical safety rules and network standards.
Operational interface and commissioning management.
