Vaughan Infrastructure have been engaged by Zinfra to install a new DN550 pipeline approximately along Qantas Drive, Mascot NSW. Awarded the contract as the Principal Contractor for the Sydney Gateway, Primary Main Relocation project. our scope includes: Relocation of approx. 1100M over 2 stages of the Sydney Primary Gas Main DN 550 (OD559) along Qantas drive at Sydney Kingsford Airport in water charged ground at depths ranging from 2M to 4.5M. 


All welding in accordance with AS2885, pre-qualified welders with all welds 100% non-destructive tested & x-rayed. 24” cold field bending machine & operator onsite for duration of project. There are 4 X Tie-in points along the pipeline route where hot tap and stopple tie-ins with temporary DN300 bypasses were required for the relocated sections to maintain uninterrupted flow throughout the construction period. 


Scope of works include: 


  • Excavation and installation of pipelines 

  • Cold field bending 

  • Non Destructive Testing (NDT) of pipeline and coating works with stopaq 

  • Hydrostatic pressure testing of newly installed main 

  • Installation of Cathodic Protection (CP) system, marker stone etc. 

  • Installation of Williamson Tees and all other associated in service welding 

  • Temporary bypass piping for tie-ins 

  • Assisting with hot tap connections and final commissioning works 

  • Cutting and capping existing DN550 steel gas main 

  • Roadway and footpath reinstatement works
